Lena Dunham, the actress, director and best-selling author, has plopped down almost $5 million for a four-bedroom/3.5 bath condo in Brooklyn Heights, where she reportedly lives with boyfriend Jack Antonoff, lead guitarist for the band Fun.
The condo is one of only five units at 30 Henry Street, the site of the Brooklyn Daily Eagle's former offices. We find that fitting, since Dunham is a woman of many words --she reportedly scored a $3.7 million advance for her controversial memoir "Not That Kind of Girl" -- and the Daily Eagle, last published in 1963, was once the largest daily circulation paper in the country. We hope the spirit of poet Walt Whitman, the paper's editor from 1846 to 1848, will roam the halls of the new condo building.
But back to "it girl" Dunham, who is loyal to her Brooklyn roots. The 28-year-old (what were you doing at 28?) attended high school there, sets her HBO series "Girls" there, and just traded up from the one-bedroom condo she bought there for $500,000 in 2012 and reportedly still owns.
Her new, 3,200 square-foot digs cost $4,887,600. Each apartment has its own elevator that opens into a "grand room" that sprawls the length of the building, says the Corcoran Group description of 30 Henry Street. The brand new building, called The Heights, also has an automated parking garage.
Listing photos for the five units have shown the same modern (but rather muted) model decor for the various apartments. We're betting Dunham, with her quirky sense of style, added her personal touch pronto.
